Greetings dear META-MUSEUM community,
Summer is here, and so is our latest newsletter! It is packed with updates, milestones, and exciting news from across the consortium.
Our digital prototypes are moving from development to live testing, the neuroscience experiments are launching this autumn, and the educational modules are already reaching students across Europe. The pilots we have long been preparing for are no longer on the horizon; they are here.
We are also delighted to highlight an exciting opportunity from our friends at MetaHeritage, whose Call for Investment Ideas is now open. If you or someone you know is working on innovative projects in Digital Heritage, Immersive Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, or Cultural Tourism, we encourage you to apply. Selected applicants will have the chance to pitch their ideas at the MetaHeritage Pitching Showcase on 5 October 2026. The application deadline is 7 August 2026 and participation is free of charge.
We hope you enjoy the read.
Discover Advancements Across META-MUSEUM
The META-MUSEUM project is advancing on all fronts. The audience survey is being relaunched with an expanded strategy encompassing both museum visitors and non-visitors to deepen the project’s understanding of cultural heritage engagement. The attaCHbox app is moving from prototype to pilot-ready, supported by a new visual identity from EMA and a secure central data repository built by BEIA. Digital and storytelling prototypes are being finalised ahead of neuroscience experiments launching this September at MuséoParc Alésia, with further pilots in Barcelona and Turin to follow. In parallel, UNIROMA1 is preparing a study bringing virtual cultural heritage experiences into hospital settings to explore their impact on patient wellbeing. From March to June 2026, META-MUSEUM made its mark across Europe. BEIA represented the project at nine national and international events spanning science, healthcare, and cultural heritage, while UNI JENA showcased cultural artefacts as 3D models at events across the continent. POLITO visited the Museo Egizio in Turin to share experimental results with the museum’s director and team, generating valuable feedback for the project’s next steps. UNIROMA1 presented neurophysiological research findings at the ESCAN Conference in Rome, connecting with the international neuroscience community ahead of the project’s upcoming work in healthcare settings. Meanwhile, EMA successfully piloted its educational modules at the Piranova International Summer School in Koper, with sessions at EMA Summer Schools in Cyprus, Slovenia, and Sweden coming up shortly.
