The Museo Egizio is the world’s oldest museum devoted entirely to ancient Egyptian culture. Visitors discover the fundamental stages of its formation, from the creation of the collection to the present. Founded in 1824, it houses an extensive collection of artifacts spanning 4,000 years of history, art, and archaeology.
The museum’s collection includes notable items such as the 18.47-meter-long Papyrus of Iuefankh, the longest papyrus preserved at the Museo Egizio, and a 5-ton statue of Pharaoh Sethi II, displayed in the Gallery of the Kings.
Visitors can explore thematic exhibitions, participate in educational workshops, and attend special events. The museum also offers services like a library, a museum shop, and a refreshments area to enhance the visitor experience.
In 2024, the Museo Egizio celebrated its 200th anniversary, marking two centuries of dedication to preserving and showcasing ancient Egyptian heritage.
