Stephan Engelhard, M.A., is responsible for education and mediation at the LVR-Archaeological Park Xanten. He studied Classics and Archaeology at the University of Münster and the University of Nottingham. Since his previous work for the LWL-Römermuseum Haltern am See and the Varusschlacht im Osnabrücker Land – Museum und Park Kalkriese, he has specialized in the field of museum education. Accessibility plays a key role in his work in developing learning programs to communicate archaeological research findings to a wide audience. This includes the conception of signage, didactic materials and interactives to ensure participation of all visitors in order to make their visit as barrier-free as possible.
Stephan Engelhard’s reflections on the META-MUSEUM:
“The interdisciplinary approach of the META-MUSEUM project emphasizes the audience’s needs, fosters inclusion and thereby increases cultural participation for as many people as possible.”
